General Eye Exam

Detailed Eye Exams to monitor for potential eye issues.

Everyone should have regular eye exams as the high UV rating here in North Queensland is contributing to your chance of developing cataracts, macular degeneration and other ocular problems. And guess what? Everyone gets cataracts!

Your age will determine the frequency of these exams, but optometrists generally recommend that you have an eye test at least every two years, dependent on risk factors, family history and overall health.

You will need a comprehensive eye exam more frequently if you have been diagnosed with systemic issues such as diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke or neurological (brain and nerve) conditions; or any eye-related conditions such as myopia (near-sightedness), high hyperopia (long-sightedness), macular degeneration and glaucoma.

Optometrists are healthcare professionals providing the primary aid care when it comes to your eyes. If you have an eye issue, this is who you should be approaching. Regular eye check-ups can help us detect ocular pathology at the earliest stage even when you may not even know anything is happening. Just because you don’t have any symptoms doesn’t mean there is nothing wrong.
